Overheard a teenager say 'book clubs are for old ladies' at the library

It made me remember our group's heated 2018 debate over 'The Goldfinch' and how much those arguments actually meant. Anyone else's club have a book that really split the room back in the day?

Oh man, that "heated debate" line got me. My old club nearly came to blows over "American Psycho" a few years back. Half of us thought it was a sharp satire, the other half just thought it was disgusting and pointless. We spent a whole meeting just yelling about it, and I'm still not sure we ever really settled it. Those fights are what I actually miss the most.

@amy692 "American Psycho" almost split my old group too! I still can't believe people were ready to throw down over Patrick Bateman of all people.
