Shoutout to actually finishing a book club pick for once
I used to just skim the first two chapters and fake my way through discussions... always felt super guilty about it. But last month I committed to reading Demon Copperhead all the way through, even setting aside 20 minutes before bed each night. The conversation at our meeting was totally different because I could point to specific scenes and characters without guessing. Has anyone else noticed how much better discussions are when you actually finish the whole book?

My cat sat on my book right as I got to the best plot twist.

Yeah, totally agree. I read a deep dive on how our brains actually process stories differently when we read the whole thing versus just bits and pieces. It talked about how finishing a book lets you track character arcs and themes in a way skimming just can't do. Made me realize I was cheating myself out of the good parts.
