That Tuesday my book club argued for 45 minutes over ONE sentence
We were reading "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy and got to this part about the boy's relationship with his dad. I said it showed blind trust, but Karen insisted it was about survival instinct. Then Mike jumped in saying we were both wrong and it was about love. Next thing you know, 6 of us are flipping pages and reading quotes out loud for almost an hour. Has anyone else had a single line from a book spark that big of a fight in your group?

My friend Sarah's book club spent a full 40 minutes (no joke) debating whether "It was a pleasure to burn" in Fahrenheit 451 meant joy or destruction. Kinda like your McCarthy debate @the_julia, everyone had a different take and nobody would budge.

Devil's advocate here, blind trust IS the more interesting read because it makes the boy actively choose faith over logic, which is darker than just running on instinct. @the_julia, survival instinct is just basic programming, but blind trust requires a deep and almost reckless vulnerability that makes their whole journey way more tense. Mike's love angle is sweet but too soft for a world where everyone's eating each other, you know?
