Unpopular opinion: skipping the prologue is actually a smart move for most books
Started doing it 6 months ago after a buddy in my Tulsa book club swore by it, and now I actually finish every novel without getting bogged down in backstory that never matters anyway - anyone else ditch the first 10 pages on purpose?

Got bogged down" is perfect, I'd add skipping the first 50 pages for some authors too.

Did you catch that article about how some authors actually admit their books should start at chapter 5 or 6? I read one where the writer said they always overwrite their openings just to get the story going. It makes me wonder how many classic books would be way better if we just skipped the first whole chapter lol. I tried it with a couple of my favorite series and honestly I didn't miss anything important.
