Finally got conned by that $40 'premium' car wash near Canyon Park

I stopped at that new automated car wash off 228th last Saturday (the one with the purple lights) and dropped $40 on their top tier package. Figured hey, it's a nice day, treat my truck a little since it's been covered in pine needles for weeks. The wash itself took like 8 minutes and I got a little satisfied watching the foam. But then I dried it off in the parking lot and saw the giant horizontal scratches all down the passenger side - like the dirty brushes just dragged grit across my paint. Now I'm looking at a $150 touch up job because I wanted to save an hour of my Saturday. Has anyone else had bad luck with those automated places around here or did I just hit a bad one?

Haven't you ever heard that you gotta hand wash if you care about your paint at all? Those automated places use the same dirty bristles on every car that comes through, so dragging mud and grime across your truck was pretty much guaranteed. Your $40 was a cheap lesson in why folks with nice vehicles always go to the self-serve bays or do it in their driveway.

Wait wait wait... they use the SAME bristles on every single car that rolls through?? That's absolutely insane lmao. I had no idea that's how those automatic washes worked, I always figured they rinsed the brushes between cars or something. So basically someone's muddy Jeep with caked-on gravel gets scrubbed down and then my spotless sedan gets the same treatment right after? That's disgusting actually, like using a shared loofah at the gym. Makes me never want to even look at a drive-through wash again.
