Heads up about the new traffic pattern on Main Street by the library

They changed the left turn lane into a shared center lane last week, and it took me 15 minutes to get through what used to be a 30-second turn. The backup was crazy because nobody knew how to merge. Has anyone else gotten stuck there?

You know what helps me in those merge lanes? I just pick a gap and go for it. Last week I saw three cars all trying to be polite and it froze the whole thing. I put my blinker on, made eye contact with the driver in the next lane, and they let me in. If you wait for a perfect opening you'll be there all day.

Actually, I drove through there yesterday and it was fine. The new lane forces people to slow down and pay attention, which is probably safer near the library. Maybe you just hit it at a bad time right after the change.
