I spent $600 on a professional gutter cleaning and it still clogged after one storm

I hired a crew to clean my gutters in Bothell back in October. They charged $600 and said they did a thorough job, even sent me photos. But after that big windstorm last week, water was pouring over the sides again. I climbed up and found leaves packed in the downspouts they missed. So did I just get ripped off, or is paying for this service always a gamble with our trees around here?

and honestly, $600 is steep for a basic gutter cleaning. I get that gutters suck to deal with, but you basically paid for the 'we took photos' premium. Tbh, most crews rush the downspouts because they're harder to clean and take more time. Next time, ask them specifically to flush each downspout with a hose after they clear them out. Ngl, for that price you should have gotten a guarantee or a follow up visit if something clogged again.

The last time I paid someone to clean gutters they somehow managed to break a sprinkler head in the front yard and blamed it on the lawnmower guy that hadn't been there in weeks lol. And then they tried to upsell me on gutter guards while standing in a puddle they created. Your point about the downspouts is actually super smart though because now I'm wondering if mine even get cleared out or if they just dump the big stuff off the roof and call it a day. Maybe I need to hire the guy from down the street who does it with a shop vac instead of those big crews that show up in a branded van and leave a mess.
