Overheard a guy at McMenamins explaining why the roundabout on 522 took 3 years to build

He said it wasn't the construction itself but the utility relocation. Apparently there were gas lines, fiber lines, and a water main all tangled up under there that nobody mapped correctly. Made me realize most of our road delays aren't about paving, they're about stuff underground nobody thought about in 1985. Anybody know if the new intersection on 405 is dealing with the same thing?

Call the city permit office first. They sometimes have old blueprints that save weeks of guesswork.

Used to think the city was just bad at planning lol. But yeah I saw the same thing when they dug up my street for a new sewer line, it was a total mess of old pipes nobody had on any map. Makes way more sense now why stuff takes forever when you realize they're basically untangling a rat's nest underground first.
