Pro tip: Main Street Coffee vs. the new roastery on 3rd - which one actually has better espresso?
I hit up both Main Street Coffee and that new roastery on 3rd Avenue last Saturday morning. Main Street's latte was $5.50 and came out in under 2 minutes but tasted a bit burnt. The new place took 8 minutes and charged $6.25, but the shot had this smooth chocolate note I couldn't ignore. Anyone else notice a quality difference or is it just my taste buds being picky?

Main Street is fine if you just need caffeine to function like a normal person... but calling that espresso burnt is being generous, honestly. I waited 11 minutes at the new roastery on Saturday and my $6.75 cortado had this actual layer of crema that looked like someone cared. Main Street's machine probably hasn't been descaled since the Bush administration knowing how they run things back there. That chocolate note you mentioned is what happens when they actually weigh their beans instead of just scooping whatever looks brown. If you've got the time and the extra dollar, the roastery wins by a mile... unless you're late for work then Main Street will do.

that chocolate note you mentioned is what happens when they actually weigh their beans" hahaha so true. My buddy Mike waited 15 minutes at Main Street last week and his latte came out looking like dishwater with foam on top. He was so mad he drove to the roastery the next day and said the difference was like night and day.
