Pro tip: stop taking your car to the big chain shops on Main Street

I paid $120 for a simple brake inspection at one of those places and they told me I needed $900 in work. Took it to Mike's Auto down by the Fred Meyer lot on 522, he charged me $40 to look at it and said the brakes were fine for another 5,000 miles. Has anyone else noticed the difference between those corporate shops and the local guys?
