That cashier at Safeway who remembered my dog's name
I've been going to the Safeway on Main Street for like 5 years now, mostly late nights after work. There's this one cashier, older guy, always has a Seahawks cap on. About 3 months ago I mentioned my golden retriever had surgery and I was buying him some special treats. Last week I walk in and he asks me, 'How's Cooper's knee doing?' I didn't even tell him my dog's name that night, I just said 'my dog.' He must have looked it up on my rewards card or something. It's such a small thing but it honestly made my whole week. Has anyone else had a random local employee remember something super specific about you like that? I always thought I was just another face in the crowd but now I make sure to go to his lane every time.

That's a nice story and all, but honestly it kinda creeps me out. Like, he dug through your rewards card history to find your dog's name? That's not normal small talk, that's borderline stalking behavior. The guy probably remembers everyone's pets because it makes people feel special and they tip him or rate him better at work. You're not special, you're just a regular customer who he's figured out how to butter up. Next time he'll probably ask about Cooper's favorite chew toy and then your credit card number.
