That rainy Saturday at the Main Street farmers market changed my whole shopping routine

I watched a vendor at the Bothell farmers market dump a bag of soggy kale into the compost bin and then grab a fresh bunch from a cooler, so now I always ask which produce came in that morning before I buy anything, has anyone else noticed the difference in quality by noon?

The timing thing shows up everywhere once you start looking, bakeries dump yesterday's loaves and coffee shops pull stale pastries by lunch just the same. It's all about knowing when the fresh stock hits the floor, whether it's greens or bread or anything else. Learned that trick at a fish market years ago and now I'm applying it to vegetables, seems like every place has a better hour if you bother to ask.
