The ice maker in my fridge just quit on me last night

Honestly, I woke up to a puddle on the kitchen floor and no ice cubes. Had to pull the whole thing apart to find the water line was frozen solid, right at the connection behind the freezer drawer near the back wall. Took a hair dryer to it for 15 minutes and it started dripping again. Has anyone else in Bothell dealt with this during the cold snaps we've been having?

lol I actually had a different experience with mine. I tried the hair dryer trick too but it didn't fix the actual problem, it just melted the ice temporarily. That ice was forming because the defrost drain was clogged with stuff, not because of the cold snap. Once I cleared that out and vacuumed the coils behind the fridge it stopped freezing up completely. The cold weather might be making it worse but I think the real issue is how often do you actually clean behind that thing? Most people forget the coils exist and then blame the weather when stuff breaks.

Oh man you're totally right about the coils. I had a similar thing happen with my old fridge where I kept blaming the weird weather for the frost problem but it turned out to be dust bunnies blocking everything behind it. Once I pulled that thing out and cleaned the coils and the drain hole the fridge ran way better even during that big cold front we had last year. Anybody else ever find random stuff clogging up those drains?
