Vent: spent a year trying to DIY my driveway pavers before just hiring a local crew

I was dead set on doing all 800 square feet myself after watching a few YouTube videos. Rented a plate compactor from Home Depot for like $120 and the base kept shifting no matter what I did. After 6 months of messing with it I finally called Bothell Pave and Patio and they knocked it out in 3 days flat. The difference was they actually know the sandy soil around here and used a bigger base layer than I thought. Has anyone else found that some jobs just aren't worth the headache of doing solo?

I get the frustration but DIY taught you more than hiring out ever would, and that's valuable too.

Yeah I read that YouTube tutorials make everything look way easier than it actually is.
