A $12 bus ticket from Berlin to Prague turned into a 9-hour nightmare

Booked a cheap FlixBus for a quick trip, but it broke down just outside Dresden. We sat on the side of the road for four hours waiting for a replacement bus that never showed. Ended up having to buy a last-minute train ticket with three other strangers to finally get moving. Has anyone else had a budget bus company totally leave them stranded like that?

That "replacement bus that never showed" is the worst. I just split a cab with other passengers to the nearest train station, it stung but got us moving.

Ever wonder, @evannelson, if the bus driver just got a better offer?

Dresden, huh. I had a similar FlixBus nightmare last year where the AC died in the middle of a heatwave and we were stuck for three hours on the highway near Nuremberg. It's honestly infuriating how they just leave you hanging with no updates. I feel for you having to scramble for a train with strangers, that's the kind of stress nobody needs on a trip. The worst part is you pay for a cheap ticket and end up spending way more to actually get where you're going. It almost makes you wonder if the savings are even worth the gamble.
