Flying standby for 2 months straight, hit 14 flights under $40 each

I work at a hotel near ORD and get buddy passes through a friend, so I been testing the limit of standby travel since May. Cheapest was $19 to Columbus on a Tuesday night, most expensive was $38 to Austin after a cancellation. Took 14 flights total and never paid more than $40, but I slept in 3 airports and missed two weddings because of it. The real shocker was how much I spent on food waiting around, like $200 on airport snacks alone. Anyone else chase cheap standby flights and end up paying more in time than cash?
