Got roasted by a hostel owner for my packing and now I'm a total convert

I used to be team 'pack everything for every possible situation' but an owner in Prague told me my 50L bag was 'beginners luggage' and showed me his 30L setup that lasted 6 months. Swapped down to a 35L pack and saved like $40 in bag fees on my last Ryanair flight. Anyone else get torn between being prepared and traveling light?

Dude, the 50L to 30L pipeline is real (and honestly life changing). I had the exact same moment in a hostel in Budapest where this guy unpacked a week's worth of clothes from a Jansport backpack and I felt so dumb with my giant duffel. Once I downsized to a 35L, I realized I was carrying like five extra shirts I never wore and a second pair of shoes I used maybe once. The best part is you stop buying random souvenirs because there's literally no room for them, so you save money twice over. Now I get annoyed if my bag doesn't fit under the seat in front of me on a plane, no joke.

Dude it's just a backpack. You're not joining the circus.
