Had to pick between a cheap hostel bed or a long bus ride to save cash

In Berlin, my choice was a 6 hour overnight bus to Prague for 15 euros, or a 30 euro hostel for one more night. I took the bus to save the money, but man, I got zero sleep and was a zombie for two days. The savings just weren't worth feeling that wrecked. Anyone have a better trick for handling overnight trips without losing your mind?

Thirty euros for a Berlin hostel bunk is the real shocker here. I remember paying half that a few years back. That price hike makes the bus mistake way more understandable.

Actually, that's a pretty good price for a hostel in Berlin! I've seen them way higher.
