Hot take: a hostel in Lisbon charged me 3 euros for a towel and it fixed my whole packing list
I showed up at this place in Alfama with a giant backpack and no towel, and the guy at the desk just pointed at a sign that said 3 euros with a smirk. Now I pack one thin microfiber towel that weighs nothing and dries in an hour. Anyone else find their best packing tip from getting ripped off at check in?
Used to roll my eyes at people who packed those tiny towels. Figured a real towel was worth the space and I would rather pay for the hostel one than carry my own. Then I got stuck paying 4 euros in Porto and finally bought a microfiber one out of spite. That thing takes up less room than a t shirt and dries before I finish breakfast. Turns out the rip off places are teaching us something.
