Hot take: everyone saying sleep on airport benches overnight to save cash is giving bad advice

My cousin Sarah tried that at O'Hare last March after reading a budget blog and got robbed of her wallet and phone while she dozed off, so has anyone else had a long layover go sideways trying to save $40 on a pod hotel?

A buddy of mine tried that at JFK a few years back and woke up with his sneakers gone and his backpack sliced open. Airport security just shrugged and told him it happens all the time there apparently.
