I thought those overnight bus rides across Europe were a terrible idea
My buddy convinced me to take a FlixBus from Berlin to Prague instead of a hostel for a night. I figured I'd be wrecked, but I slept pretty well and saved about 40 euros. Waking up in a new city at 6 AM with the whole day ahead felt like a win. Anyone have other routes where this actually works without being miserable?

Honestly, that's a solid win. Did you have a specific seat or any tricks to actually sleep on that bus? I tried the Paris to Amsterdam route once and the constant stops and bright lights made it impossible.

The back row corner seat is key for a little extra recline. A good neck pillow and a sleep mask are non-negotiable for blocking out those aisle lights. Noise-canceling headphones or even cheap earplugs make a huge difference with the engine sound. Did you try any of that stuff on your trip, or was it just a lost cause from the start?

The back window seat on the right side of the bus on the Paris to Amsterdam run actually has a small gap between the seat and the window where you can wedge a jacket. I learned that from @zara_hunt's tip about the back row, so props there. That extra bit of padding lets you lean against the glass without waking up with a stiff neck every time the driver hits a speed bump. The aisle lights are brutal though, I had to hang my hoodie over the overhead vent to block them out. Did you ever try booking a less popular departure time like the 3am run? Fewer stops and the driver usually dims everything by then.
