Met a hostel owner in Prague who had a wild take on saving money for flights
I was staying at this tiny hostel in Prague last summer and the owner told me she never books flights more than 2 weeks out because airlines drop prices last minute to fill seats. She said she saved over $400 on a round trip to Barcelona just by waiting until 10 days before. Has anyone else actually had luck with last minute flight deals or is this just a myth?

That wild take" is more of a gamble than a strategy. Airlines have algorithms that jack up prices closer to departure if demand is high, so waiting could cost you more than booking early.

Booked a flight three days before departure once and paid half what my coworker did booking two months ahead. Just gotta check the pattern for that specific route.
