My cheap hostel in Prague had a guy who swore by a 'free breakfast' hack that was just stealing
I met a backpacker named Lars in the common room who told me, with a straight face, his plan to save money on food. He said he would go to a fancy hotel near the river, walk in like he owned the place, and load up on their buffet breakfast. He called it 'the continental drift.' I was too shocked to say anything but 'that's just theft, man.' Has anyone else run into people trying to pass off stealing as a legit travel tip?

The continental drift" is a new one. That's not a hack, that's just a fancy name for getting chased out by hotel security.

Know exactly what he means. I've seen people try to skip out on a hotel bill by just walking away, and it never ends well. Always settle your account at the front desk before you leave for the day, even if checkout is later. That way, you're not rushing and you avoid any confusion. It keeps everything clean and you won't have security looking for you.

Honestly saw a girl try this at a resort in Mexico, she just walked into the pool area and started using the towels and ordering drinks. Tbh it was super awkward when the staff asked for her room number and she had to leave. Ngl people who do this stuff always think they're being clever but they just look cheap and rude. It ruins the vibe for everyone else who actually paid to be there.
