My hostel booking in Barcelona got canceled 2 hours before check-in

I showed up at this place near Las Ramblas around 9 PM and the front desk said they overbooked and I had no room. Turns out the booking site never confirmed properly. I ended up walking 20 minutes to a random hostel I found on my phone that had one bunk left for 18 euros. Has anyone else dealt with a last minute booking falling through abroad?
