My uncle swore the Hostelling International card would save me money, he was dead wrong

Used their Boston location for $45 a night and a guy snored like a chainsaw three feet from my face. Has anyone actually had a good experience at an HI hostel or are they all just glorified dorms?

Jesus, $45 a night for THAT? I would have lost my mind. Did they at least warn you about the chainsaw guy at check-in, or was it just a nasty surprise at 2 AM? Sounds like your uncle owes you a refund and an apology.
