Rant: I blew $85 on a "free" airport shuttle pass in Denver and walked 2 miles anyway
So last month I had a 7 hour layover in Denver and thought I was being smart by grabbing this shuttle pass deal I saw online for $85. The site promised door to door rides to a cheap hotel near the airport with a pool and free breakfast. I paid up front because the guy on the phone acted like the spots fill fast and I didn't want to get stuck. Turns out the "shuttle" was a shared van that runs once an hour, and my pickup time was 3 hours out. The driver then dropped me at a hotel two miles from the one I'd booked, saying the pass only covers their partner spots. I ended up walking the whole way in the heat with my carry on, paid $22 for a sandwich, and got back to the terminal late enough that I had to run to my gate. The breakfast buffet was closed by the time I arrived at 10:40. Has anyone actually found a cheap airport hotel trick that doesn't involve these prepaid ride passes? I'm flying through Dallas next month and I don't want a repeat of this.
