Saved $200 on a hostel booking by switching to a Wednesday arrival

I was looking at 3 nights in Barcelona during peak season and the weekend rates were brutal. Shifting my trip by just 2 days - arriving Wednesday instead of Friday - dropped the price from $450 to $250 at the same place. Has anyone else noticed big price jumps just by moving your travel days around?

Wednesday is my secret weapon for hostel deals. Friday through Sunday rates are always bloated by demand. Midweek bookings cut the cost by almost half in most cities I've been to. Have you noticed if hostels in Barcelona apply the same weekend markup everywhere?

Honestly man, I used to roll my eyes at people talking about midweek travel like it was some huge life hack. But last summer I booked a hostel in Lisbon and it was the same thing, $180 for Thursday night versus $300 for Saturday at the same place. That shifted my whole view on it, lol. Now I actually check the calendar before I even look at the price because the difference is just way too big to ignore. Wednesday arrivals are definitely the move for saving real cash.
