Spent $60 on a portable clothesline and it actually paid for itself in 2 trips

I used to think packing extra underwear and paying for hotel laundry was just part of traveling. Then I grabbed one of those retractable clotheslines from Amazon for $60 before a 3 week trip through Southeast Asia. I washed stuff in sinks and hung it up overnight in the bathroom. Saved maybe $100 on laundry fees by the time I got home. The line folds up tiny too, so it doesn't eat up bag space. Anyone else have a small gadget that changed how they pack?

Hang on, I gotta push back on this a little. In my experience, those little lines can be a pain if the room doesn't have a good spot to hook them up. I've had them slip off a door frame or a towel rack in the middle of the night and land right in the toilet. Plus, not everything dries overnight in humid climates, so you're left with damp jeans you have to wear. For $60, you could have just bought a few quick-dry shirts and skipped the whole line routine. Your mileage may vary, but I've found handwashing in a sink with hotel shampoo doesn't always get the sweat out either.

Totally, I read somewhere that those travel clotheslines are more trouble than they're worth in most hotel bathrooms anyway. The suction cups always give up on me, especially if the tiles are slightly textured. I've just given up and started bringing a few merino pieces that don't stink even if they don't dry fast.
