That hostel loyalty card I laughed at actually saved me 80 bucks in Prague
I was standing at the front desk of this hostel in Prague last October and the guy tried to sell me their loyalty card for 10 euros. I almost laughed in his face because it sounded like a total scam for tourists. But he explained that it gave 15% off their already cheap rooms plus free breakfast at their sister hostel. I figured what the hell since I was staying 5 nights anyway and it was only 10 euros. By the end of the trip I had used it at 3 different locations and saved way more than I spent. The free breakfast thing was actually decent too with bread and eggs and coffee. Anyone else ever had a sketchy sounding deal from a hostel that actually worked out?

Wow, I've got to be honest this sounds like the kind of thing I'd fall for and then kick myself later. I mean who actually saves money with those stupid loyalty cards right? The whole thing feels like a trap where you're locked into using one hostel chain in a city full of better and cheaper options. Plus you can usually find free breakfast somewhere else or just grab a cheap bakery croissant for like 2 euros. I'd rather keep my 10 euros and have the freedom to book whatever room pops up on Hostelworld at the last minute without feeling obligated to use some overpriced card I bought earlier.
