Had to pick between a cheap gym membership and a good one

I was staring at two options last month. One was a basic gym for $20 a month, but it was always packed and the machines broke down all the time. The other was a nicer place for $50 a month, with a pool and classes included. I went cheap at first to save cash, but after three weeks of waiting for the squat rack and dealing with a broken treadmill, I felt like I was wasting my time. So I switched to the $50 one, and honestly, I'm actually going now because I don't dread it. Turns out my budgeting win was spending more to actually stick with the habit. Has anyone else had that moment where paying extra was the better deal?

...and honestly, the $20 gym ended up being way more expensive when you factor in the time wasted. I did the same thing with a cheap yoga studio that was always crowded and dirty, then moved to one that cost double but had actual clean mats and space to breathe. Funny how paying more can actually save your sanity.

Exactly. @the_olivia this reminds me of a bigger pattern I notice everywhere. People brag about getting the cheapest deal but then they're stuck in lines, waiting for rooms, or dealing with broken stuff. That "savings" gets eaten up by your time and energy really fast. It's like buying a cheap printer that needs new ink every month, you end up paying twice. Sometimes the higher upfront cost is the real bargain in the long run.
