I put my grocery budget in cash envelopes and accidentally saved $212 in a month
So I pulled $400 out in cash for groceries last month and split it into four envelopes, one for each week. Week two I forgot the envelope at home and had to use my card, which broke the whole system and I almost quit. But by week four I had $212 left over, mostly because I started skipping the little $4 snacks I used to grab without thinking. Turns out seeing the cash get thin is way harder to ignore than a card tap. Does anyone else use the envelope thing, and how do you handle it when you forget the cash at home?
$212 left over from $400 is wild, that means you basically cut your grocery spending in half just by using paper. Forgetting the envelope at home in week two and almost quitting is the most relatable part though. Keep a small backup stash in your glove box so one slip up doesn't blow up the whole month.
