I think the whole "save 50% on everything" crowd is missing the real point
My neighbor Mike bragged about cutting his grocery bill in half by buying bulk at Costco, but last week he threw out $80 worth of spoiled produce which wiped out any real savings.

Man, I gotta say I was totally on the other side of this argument for years. I thought bulk buying was the smartest thing ever, like saving money was just about getting the biggest box of whatever. But then I did the math on my own Costco run last summer and realized I was tossing out half a bag of avocados and a big thing of spinach every single week. It really hits you when you pull out a moldy bag of grapes and think, "that's five bucks right there." So yeah, your neighbor Mike's story pretty much flipped my whole view on this.

Threw out $80 worth of spoiled produce" that part hits hard. I've been there with a whole bag of onions that sprouted before I could use them. You end up trying to meal plan around Costco sizes instead of what you actually want to eat that week. It's basically paying for food you'll never eat.
