Lost $150 on a meal delivery subscription I never used

Signed up for that Freshly meal kit deal back in January because the first week was half off. Forgot to cancel after the trial and they charged me $75 the next week, then another $75 the week after. The meals just sat in my fridge because I kept eating fast food after work instead. Anyone else get tricked by those cheap trial offers and lose way more than you planned?

Read a Reddit thread where someone called it the subscription trap tax. You learned a $150 lesson.

Heard a podcast where someone broke down how these auto-renewals are designed to be forgotten. It's that whole "set it and forget it" model that banks on people not paying attention. Your $150 is basically paying for that reminder to check your statements closer.

Honestly that phrase subscription trap tax is perfect because that's exactly what it is. It stings but at least now you'll never let another one slip by again.
