Started reading ingredient labels instead of just looking at the sale price and it changed everything. Found out the store brand stuff is pretty much the same as the name brands in a lot of cases and costs way less. Also started checking the unit price on the shelf tag not just the total price. That one little habit saved me like 15 bucks on basic stuff like cereal and pasta last month alone. It's boring but it works.
