My neighbor laughed at me for tracking every dollar for 6 months, then asked for my spreadsheet last week

Wait, did they actually ask nicely or were they still being a jerk about it? I've had people do the same thing to me before - laugh at me for being too careful, then come crawling back when they realize they're broke. What made you finally say yes to sharing it? Did you make them eat crow first or just hand it over? Because honestly, tracking expenses for that long takes serious discipline and it's wild how quick people change their tune when their own money situation gets tight.

Huh, wait, you mean they actually laughed at you for being careful? That's wild, @jana_davis90. I thought my situation was bad but that's next level. Honestly, the guy who asked me just said he was "curious" about my system and wanted to "compare notes" which felt way too smooth. I didn't make him eat crow, but I did make him sit down and listen to the whole process for about an hour before I'd even consider showing him a single spreadsheet. Most people don't realize how much time it takes to label every single coffee run or late night snack.
