Shoutout to my old beater car for lasting another year
My 2008 Civic needed a new timing belt and water pump, which would have cost me $900 at the shop. The other choice was to trade it in and get a new car payment, which would be at least $300 a month. I spent a weekend with my brother-in-law and we did the work ourselves for just the cost of parts, $220. Has anyone else put off a big car purchase by fixing something major themselves?

Love that you saved so much money doing it yourself.

What's the hourly rate for a therapist? Because I'm pretty sure I spent all my savings on the mental toll of figuring it out. The money I saved is now a fund for future mistakes. Honestly, the real win was not setting the house on fire.

Watching a ton of YouTube tutorials first was key for me. I wrote down every single step before I even picked up a tool. It took a whole weekend just to install a ceiling fan, but it's still up there years later. What kind of project did you tackle?
