Shoutout to the library for saving my wallet this month

I signed up for a free library card at the downtown branch three weeks ago and have checked out six books so far instead of buying them. Saved about $90 that would have gone to the bookstore. Anyone else cut back on spending by borrowing instead of buying?

Did you know my library lets you check out cake pans? I found that out when I walked in looking for a cookbook last week. @cameron763 is right about the digital stuff, but nothing beats walking out with a bag full of free books and a random bundt pan for the potluck this weekend. I saved myself from buying another $25 cookbook I probably wouldn't use anyway.

Man, I gotta admit, I was one of those people who thought libraries were just for dusty old books and quiet rooms. But you're making me rethink that. Six books for free is a solid deal, especially when new paperbacks are running $15-$20 each. People sleep on libraries too much, they have way more than just books now. Mine lets you borrow video games, tools, and even has a seed library for gardening. If you haven't checked their digital app yet, you can borrow ebooks and audiobooks straight to your phone without ever stepping inside. That $90 you saved could be a nice dinner out or gas for a month depending on where you live.
