Showerthought: Is it better to buy in bulk or just shop weekly for a family of four?
I used to hit Costco every month and drop $300 on giant boxes of stuff, thinking I was saving big. But then half the produce would rot before we ate it, and my pantry was a disaster zone. Now I shop weekly at Aldi, spending about $100 each trip, and I waste WAY less food. The bulk savings looked good on paper, but the practical waste ate into it, I think. Which side do you lean on for a family with young kids?

Oh man, I used to be all about the monthly bulk run too. Thought I was being smart with the big packs of berries and bags of apples. But seeing that soggy, moldy pile in the fridge after a week changed my mind completely. Small weekly trips really do seem to waste less.

Monthly bulk runs save way more time and fuel money than people give them credit for. A quick tip - grab some produce bags with ventilation holes and store berries and apples in the fridge door instead of the back where moisture collects. Did that for years and barely saw any mold unless I forgot about them for two weeks straight. The key is knowing what actually lasts and planning around that, not just blaming the bulk method.
