That cashier at Aldi who told me to just buy the store brand pasta sauce back in 2010

She pointed at my $3.50 jar of Rao's and said 'honey, that's fancy, but the $1.20 one tastes the same with a pinch of sugar,' and I've saved roughly $240 a year on sauce alone since, has anyone else had a random stranger change their grocery budget forever?

Listen, did that cashier actually WATCH you put it back and grab the cheap stuff? Because I feel like there's a DIFFERENCE between someone just giving advice and them VERIFYING you followed through. My Aldi cashier once told me the store brand Greek yogurt was 'literally the same' as Fage and I was too scared to swap because she was gone by the time I hit the dairy aisle. I ended up buying BOTH and doing a taste test at home which defeated the whole point. But if she'd stood there and NODDED at me while I put the expensive one back I'd probably trust it more. Did you feel pressured in the moment or was it just good timing?

Buddy of mine swapped out the organic chicken for regular after a cashier gave him the same tip then got paranoid the whole drive home.
