Took me 3 months to fix a $7 toilet flapper issue

I kept hearing that faint hissing sound from my bathroom toilet for months. My water bill was creeping up by like $12 each month and I was too stubborn to call a plumber. Finally watched a 10 minute YouTube video and replaced the flapper myself for $7 at Home Depot. Has anyone else put off a small fix and realized it cost way more in the long run?
