Why does nobody talk about the hidden cost of cheap birthday candles?
I grabbed a 99 cent pack of 24 candles from Dollar Tree for my kid's party last Sunday. Turns out they don't just drip wax, they drip a ton of it and stain the cake so bad I had to toss the whole top layer. That $30 cake from Costco was a total loss over a buck. Anyone else have a cheap party supply backfire like this?

Ive had this happen with cheap candles from the dollar store too. The trick is to stick them in the freezer for about 10 minutes before lighting them. It makes the wax burn slower and drip way less. Also, if you pop a few toothpicks into the cake around the candles, the wax just hits those instead of the frosting. Saves the whole top layer and nobody notices. Sorry about your Costco cake, that stings extra hard when you pay for the good one.
