Appreciation post: that 20 year old flat scraper I almost threw out still works better than the new carbide ones

I was fighting some dried glue on a maple panel last month and grabbed my grandpa's old Stanley scraper out of habit, and it cut through the residue in half the time with zero chatter - has anyone else gone back to an old tool after getting frustrated with modern stuff?

Dried glue on maple? Same here. That old Stanley just works better.

Read somewhere that the old Stanley planes just have better casting quality than the new ones.
