Finally got my first custom kitchen order over $15k, which felt huge after just doing small repair jobs for so long.

It's a full set of painted maple cabinets with inset doors for a remodel in Scottsdale, and honestly, I'm just relieved the client liked my sample door enough to trust me with the whole project.

Painted maple in Scottsdale is a bold move with that dry heat. Seen too many jobs where the finish cracks or yellows within a year. That 15k might just be the start of your headaches with that client.

Hold up on the panic. A 15k kitchen is solid but its not like you signed a contract for a skyscraper. Painted maple in Arizona isnt some death sentence either. You had the sample hold up fine so theres a decent chance you nailed the prep and finish. Let the install happen before you borrow trouble.

Congrats, that's a huge step up! I mean, getting that first big yes on a custom sample is the best feeling, it makes all the prep work worth it. I did a similar painted inset job last year and just holding my breath until the final install was over.
