Heard a client call a miter saw a 'chop saw' and it threw me for a loop.
I was at the hardware store and a guy in line was telling his friend he needed a new 'chop saw' for his baseboard project. It took me a second to realize he meant a miter saw. I guess the lingo really changes depending on who you talk to. Do you guys have any other funny name mix-ups you've heard from customers?

My uncle's been a carpenter for 30 years and calls every circular saw a Skilsaw. It's just not a big deal. People use the words they learned, and you figure it out after two seconds of talking. Getting hung up on it feels like making a problem where there isn't one. As long as the right tool comes off the shelf, who cares what name they used.

Tell me about it, I've had to decode "hammer drill" when they just meant an impact driver.

Honestly, that's pretty normal lingo in a lot of shops (I hear it all the time). The real fun starts when someone asks for a "Skilsaw" and they mean any circular saw, not the actual brand. Or when "alligator clips" and "crocodile clips" start a whole debate. It's like a secret code you have to crack sometimes.
