I called bull on simple drawer slides until a job forced my hand

For ten years I insisted on using full-extension ball-bearing slides for every project, thinking anything less was hack work. Then a customer with a 1950s kitchen wanted me to match the original side-mount slides, and I found a set of Accuride 3832s that work smoother than my expensive stuff. Anybody else have a product or technique they dismissed for years that ended up being just fine?

Wait, you're telling me a set of drawer slides actually worked better than the expensive stuff you've been pushing for a decade? Guess that's what we get for assuming price tags have brains.

cameron763 hit it right on the head with that "guess that's what we get for assuming price tags have brains" line. I feel that deep down because I spent years thinking I knew better, and then a customer basically showed me I was wrong by accident. The Accuride slides I ended up using weren't even the priciest option, they were just the right ones for that old kitchen setup. It's humbling when you realize you've been overcomplicating things just because you wanted to feel like a pro.
