I saw a guy at the Charlotte woodworking show using a $15 marking gauge for drawer fronts, and it changed my whole layout process.

@ross.angela yeah, it's true. A cheap gauge can be just as accurate if the beam is straight and the pin is sharp. Most of the precision comes from how you use it, not what you paid. I've seen guys do amazing work with beat up tools from garage sales. Meanwhile some guys drop two hundred bucks on a wheel gauge and still can't scribe a clean line.
