My tip from watching a 70 year old cabinetmaker in Ohio

I was helping a guy named Frank install a kitchen last month and he said 'stop rushing the face frame glue up' and showed me how he clamps everything from the back first. Has anyone else found that small tweak saves you a lot of sanding later?

Frank out of Lancaster is right... clamps on the face first then shims makes way more sense to me.

Frank out in Lancaster taught me the opposite - he clamps the face first and uses shims to level everything before the glue sets. His logic is that face frames are what people actually see, so getting that joint perfect upfront means zero sanding later. I've tried both ways and face first saves me more time on finish work, even if it takes an extra minute to set up.

Respectfully @lee.lucas, face first always leaves me chasing gaps on the backside.
