New guys keep skipping the pre-finish sanding step

Ive seen three different shops in the last year try to skip the 220 grit before spraying lacquer. You end up with brush marks showing through and they blame the paint. Any of you run into this with younger guys?

Yeah those big box store "pros" think they can skip steps. Ive seen guys try to blast through with 150 grit thinking it'll "cut down on time" but then the lacquer just soaks in uneven and looks terrible. Gotta respect the 220 between coats too or youre just wasting material.

Man I feel you on that. It's frustrating watching people cut corners like that when the extra few minutes of sanding makes ALL the difference in how the finish turns out.
