Spent 2 hours sanding a face frame before realizing my paper was too coarse
Switched from 60 grit to 120 grit on the same oak frame and the finish came out glass smooth in half the time, anyone else stuck using way too rough paper for basic stuff?.

Funny you mention that, I was watching a video from a guy who restores old furniture and he said most people start way too rough. He was saying you gotta match the paper to the wood, not just whatever's cheapest at the store. I used 80 grit on some pine shelves last week and it left scratches I had to sand out with 150 anyway.

80 grit on pine is fine if you just want shape fast and don't mind the extra pass.
