Hot take: the "moon landing was faked" crowd actually made me a better researcher

I got deep into the moon landing conspiracy rabbit hole a few months back just for kicks. Started looking up their claims about shadows and flag movements to debunk them. But the more I dug for real NASA docs and photos, the more I learned about actual space history. Now I can rattle off Apollo mission facts better than most. It's like arguing with flat earthers made me learn geography without meaning to. Has anyone else gotten smarter just from trying to prove conspiracy nuts wrong?

@jamies45, saying it "doesn't really matter" misses the point entirely. The real skill here is learning how to evaluate sources and spot bad arguments, which applies to everything from news articles to medical advice.

Gotta disagree here. If anything, diving into that stuff just wasted your time learning trivia that doesn't really matter in the real world.

Honestly @jamies45, when you say "doesn't really matter in the real world," what exactly is the real world to you? Is there some list of approved topics nobody told me about?
